#*(%&#%*(@%!!!!!!!!!! Oh. My. God.
After nearly 25 years of being haunted by their disappearance from my life, I bring you the return of the Richman-Gordman Zooland Animals.
I have been obsessed with these since the first time I slid down the elephant’s trunk when I lived in Altoona, IA at age like, what, 6? I’m almost positive my obsession with all things giant and fiberglass originate from these animals. And from the day I could search the internet I looked and looked for these guys—with info spotty at best, maybe two chatroom forums with vague recollections. One day I even searched for fiberglass companies in case they had a back-log of making them. Every year since then, however, info got better and better…more recollections here, a blurry photo of a crusty hippo in someone’s yard there.
Finally TODAY. Just like all the other searches, nothing in particular made me look them up. Just my annual curiosity.
“Richman Gordman Zooland Animals”
I think my heart literally imploded it was beating so hard when I found this website. And to think, the missing pieces finally lay rest in Omaha, Nebraska just a stone’s throw from where I am, fully restored, and they are open to the public.
No matter how lame it sounds, my life is literally complete. I love you interwebs!!!!!

And I thought Jonathan Whitfill was cool. The well of creativity will never go dry. This stuff is so unusual and amazing. Makes me happy.

And this adorable bird pottery just scratches the surface of Tasha McKelvey’s work. My mind totally swirls looking at her studio too, I mean it’s like heaven on earth and I don’t even do ceramics!

This powerful image from New Zealand is the simplest metaphor for earth vs humans and how earth will always win. It might not defeat us completely, but it can leave us a twisted wreck of irreparable damage. The GOOD I am finding in this imagery is the overwhelmingly liberating emotion that I can relinquish control.
Whatever happens, happens.

bakeitinacake:

Rainy day cupcakes! I couldn’t bake real rain into a cupcake, but some blue food coloring and sprinkles almost do the trick! To make your own, just add a couple drops of blue food coloring or food gel to 1/3 of your favorite vanilla cake batter. Scoop a tablespoon of it into the bottom of your paper lined cupcake tins to make the “puddle.” Next, add a few tablespoons of blue jimmies sprinkles to the remaining (undyed) batter to make the raindrops. Add a couple tablespoons of that to the cupcake tins. Then bake! Finish ‘em off with a “cloud” of white vanilla buttercream—suddenly your rainy, cloudy day becomes a delicious treat! (You know what goes really well with rainy day cupcakes? DOUBLE RAINBOW CUPCAKES! All the way!)

And speaking of awesome cupcakes…my heart hurts these are so emo-ly rad!!!

Let Sleeping Cats Lie
My tiny project created itself when I took a photo of a pile of boyfriend and cat right before going to work on Monday. It’s like the cat(s) knew because they kept it up every day.

Taking a big gulp of ice water after a rich cup of cocoa is equivalent to jumping into the hotel pool after soaking in the hot tub.
